This is an image I created back in 2006 and still love... which means, of course, it's going on a box! Right now, the box is just about finished, so pictures of that should be coming up shortly. It's a papier-mache box, so a little less sturdy than usual, but as long as you're not planning on using it for hockey practice or propping up table legs with it, it should be fine. If you just like the design and want it on a t-shirt or mug, it's also available in my CafePress shop, Kitsune's Closet.
My second project at the moment is a chest featuring this lovely pirate mermaid. This will actually be the largest box I've done to date. It's actually big enough to keep a few photos in, trinkets, jewelry, coasters... your favorite romance novels, whatever. It's got a nice hand-painted border on it (painters tape, I love you) and an interior of "Venetian Gold." Right now, the box is about 3/4s of the way done - I've still got a few more coats of Mod Podge to add and the suade paper to put on the bottom, but overall, this is a pretty cool box. And, like the kitsune samurai above, if you like the design and want it on a t-shirt, it's also available over at Kitsune's Closet. But trust me, you're gonna want to keep an eye out for when this box is finished! And finally, in the fine tradition of the Love and Joy Box, yet another experimental box. It's another 3"x3"x3" box, so fairly small, and again, I'm playing with Folkart's Crackle Medium for Acrylic, this time layering Midnight Blue over a gorgeous metallic Moss Pearl. That means that whenever the light catches it the right way, the Moss Pearl shines through with a beautiful, almost molten, gleam. There's no decoupage on this one (yes, GASP, I know!), but I'm working on my handpainting skills instead, using silhouettes of butterflies and dragonflies in Moss Pearl, and because I do so love fairies, a fairy silhouette on top. I'm not sure what I'll call this one, but pretty much all it needs is a coat or two of Mod Podge to protect it, and it'll be all set to go!
So, that's what I'm working on right now. Keep an eye out for it when we start putting stuff up again.
